Thursday 9th March at 2pm.

Following the success of our previous webinars, we’re back with another Introduction to the Social Model of Disability!

The Social Model of Disability was created by disabled people to better represent what disables people throughout society. In this event we will talk through the history of the Social Model and what disabling barriers exist.

We will look at the medical model, how this differs and the negative impact it can have. This will also include a discussion about language and the importance of the words we use.

Our Chief Executive, Rhian Davies, will be joining us to share why Disability Wales adopted the Social Model and why we continue to promote its implementation.

We’ll also be joined by Terry Mills from Welsh Government who will be talking about employment and the social model.

This event will be held over Zoom and will last for 90 minutes with a 10 minute comfort break.
