Social Care Wales Seeks New Board Members

Do you have an interest in social care?  The establishment of Social Care Wales presents an exciting opportunity to improve social care in Wales.  The organisation is looking for board members from all walks of life who have a passion to improve social care standards and the services provided to members of the public.

In 2016 the National Assembly for Wales passed the Regulation and Inspection of Social Care (Wales) Act 2016. The Act renames the Care Council for Wales as Social Care Wales and widens its remit to include responsibility for service improvement. Social Care Wales will also continue to regulate certain groups of social care workers (including social workers) and to lead on the development of the social care workforce.

The Social Care Wales Board will provide leadership and direction to the organisation. It will set plans, agree how and where a budget of approximately £20m is spent and review the progress and delivery of work. Social Care Wales is looking to recruit people from many walks of life, including carers, service users and members of the public with knowledge and experience in a wide range of areas with a passion to make a positive difference.

Time commitment: 24 days per year (this includes Board, Committee and stakeholder meetings).
