Could you access your right to vote?
Polling day – how did it go for you? Were you able to access your right to vote?
We’ve been told about:
- A wheelchair accessible voting booth that had no screen around it and no privacy for voting;
- Polling stations that were too small or crowded for wheelchair users to move around in;
- Change of venue not being promoted properly so people wasted energy and time going to the wrong place;
- Election manifestos were not available in easy read or BSL so people didn’t have the information they needed to vote.
Do you know of any examples in your area where it has not been accessible for disabled people to vote?
