Work
For many people work is important, not only do we appreciate the financial benefits, but also it can make us feel valued: if we are newly disabled it can help us rejoin society again. However, though working can be important, it isn’t everything.
We need to do things in our own time, at our own pace. If we do want to work, there are many ways we can seek employment. Most jobs are open to disabled people.

Disability Employment Advisor (DEA). Will look at what type of work you are interested in, and discuss the options with you. They will also give you the option for any training or re-training.
Access to Work is organised through Job Centre Plus offices and can help with transport costs, provide support workers or special equipment, such as voice-activated technology for people who have visual impairments or those people with RSI.
There are specific employment agencies for disabled people, contact your local disability organisation for more details, or look in the yellow pages.
