Holidays

The best way to find out where the best holidays are is to talk to other disabled travellers. Check out websites and message boards.

Families with disabled children may be entitled to financial assistance via their Social Services.

Social services can provide grants towards holiday costs, however due to budget restrictions, holidays may be seen as a low priority and most will insist on means testing. If grants are available they may be very small or some authorities may offer holidays at places of their choice.

There are organisations, charities that can provide you with information on holidays. Some may be able to offer financial assistance.

Contact a Family provide good information on what’s available.

Wales
All local tourist boards in Wales should have detailed information on accommodation, visitor attractions etc. If you don’t get satisfaction, contact the Wales Tourist Board

…and the rest

BBC on-line travel pages on accessible travel have good advice.

Tourism for All provides information about all types of holidays for disabled people e.g. family holidays, group holidays, activity holidays and holidays for unaccompanied children and young adults. They do not offer financial support, nor organise holidays but do run a reservation service for accessible accommodation in London.
