It is with great sadness that DW reports the death of Henry Langen, a former Vice Chair who served on the Board of Directors from 2005 – 2012. Henry lived in Narberth and was very active in a range of organisations in Pembrokeshire. A former builder, he was Chair of the local Access Group for several years and was a town councillor and former Mayor of Narberth.
As DW’s Vice Chair, Henry actively supported our campaigns, including Streets Ahead, which was focussed on Haverford West, as well as Independent Living Now! He featured in the Manifesto (2011) and campaign video which successfully called on Welsh Government to introduce a national strategy on independent living, stating:
“They don’t take into consideration the saving of costs by grasping the metal in the first place and just going for it, putting the right stuff in place at the beginning.”
Henry had enormous energy, charm and humour and will be greatly missed by the many people who knew him. Our deepest condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.
Henry’s funeral takes place at 1.45pm on 28 June 2017 at Parc Gwyn Crematorium, Narberth. Donations in lieu of donations may be made to Muscular Dystrophy UK c/o the funeral directors, E.C. Thomas & Son, Zoar Chapel Funeral Home, Llanteg, Narberth SA67 8QH.
