Disability Wales have looked through the main political parties manifestos for the upcoming General Election on 8 June.

We have put together a summary of each parties policies regarding disability equality which you can see on the following pages.

This summarises the key Green Party pledges that are most relevant to disabled people.



Ensuring that every child with Special Educational Needs has access to a mainstream education, in accordance with the UN Convention for Persons with Disabilities.


Equality and human rights

Defend the Human Rights Act and UK membership of the European Convention on Human Rights, and reinstate funding for the Equality and Human Rights Commission.

Action to tackle discrimination on the basis of disability.



Bring mental health care in line with physical health

Ensure people experiencing mental health crisis are treated closer to their homes and support networks

Introduce mental health awareness training within the public sector and encourage a wider dialogue of mental health within society

Major investment in social care for all those who need it



Significantly improve housing choice for D/deaf and disabled people by requiring all councils to appropriately plan for their housing needs and significantly increase the numbers of homes built to lifetime home and mobility standards over the next 5 years.


Social Security

Address benefits injustice with a social security system that gives disabled people the confidence they will get support when they need it.



All public transport should be fully accessible and step-free with a phase-in of free local public transport for young people, students, disabled people, and older people.
