The Welsh Government’s Digital inclusion Unit and the ‘Digital Communities Wales’ digital inclusion programme invite you to attend a workshop to explore how they can, collectively, do more to tackle digital exclusion in Wales.
Whilst good progress has been made in recent years, around a fifth of Welsh adults are still missing out on the opportunities of being online, with many more lacking the full range of basic digital skills needed to participate fully in the digital world. As digital technologies, and the benefits of using them, continue to develop, this threatens to deepen the digital divide, meaning digitally excluded people are in danger of being left behind in society, as more and more services, including vital public services, go online.
There will be a series of regional workshops taking place across Wales to raise awareness of this important social justice and equalities issue, and highlight what is being done to tackle it. It provides an opportunity for existing and potential partners to come together to share best practice; learn lessons from what has worked less well; and put forward fresh ideas to encourage even more digitally excluded people to embrace technologies.
There will also be an opportunity to inform the Welsh Government’s Digital Inclusion Framework and Delivery plan, which is in the process of being refreshed.
