DW Campaigns

Disability Wales policies form the basis for campaigning for new legislation or changes to existing policy and guidance. We work with closely with our member organisations and groups to highlight particular issues.

We also campaign by working with central government, the Welsh Assembly Government and a range of national public bodies through membership of consultative forums, advisory groups and working parties sharing our expertise in best practice on a range of disability issues.

For the last few elections, Disability Wales has been auditing access to polling stations throughout Wales.
The Coalition on Charging Cymru is a consortium of voluntary organisations representing the interests of older people, disabled people and carers. It was established in 2001 when the Welsh Assembly Government issued a consultation document entitled ‘Fairer Charging Policies for Home Care and other non-residential Social Services: Guidance for Local Authorities’.
This May, we will be voting in the National Assembly for Wales’s third election. You could almost say it is now past the toddler stage: standing up and walking, talking for itself. The politics should be reflecting this and to a certain extent, they are. Although some people may feel it is still overly driven by a Westminster agenda, the Assembly is established as part of the life of Wales.
In the run up to the Assembly elections in May COCC is calling on all political parties to commit themselves to ensuring free home care is delivered right across Wales.
