Venue: Catrin Finch Conference Centre, Glyndwr University, Wrexham
Digital Communities Wales and BT Wales warmly invite you to a Conference on ‘Community Regeneration through Digital Inclusion’.
Lesley Griffiths AM, Minister for Communities and Tackling Poverty will address the event which is organised by Digital Communities Wales and BT Wales. The Conference aims to broaden and deepen digital inclusion skills within Wales; provide a forum for knowledge exchange, sharing best practice and networking within the digital inclusion sector; encourage innovation; and provide opportunities to learn from and build partnerships with the private sector.
The conference will have a number of keynote speakers, as well as smaller breakout sessions to include workshops and case study presentations. In addition, an exhibition will provide a platform for sharing best practice and networking opportunities.
Further details about the programme and workshop options will be sent out as they are confirmed.
Who should attend?
This will be an unmissable event for those involved in supporting people to get online: regional and national third sector organisations, local government staff, housing associations, libraries, JCP, those involved in the Welsh Government’s Tackling Poverty programmes – Communities First, Families First and LIFT – and many more.
Who is organising the Conference?
Digital Communities Wales is the Welsh Government’s flagship digital inclusion project. Delivered by the Wales Co-operative Centre since April 2015, it supports organisations that are working with digitally excluded groups, including older people, people with disabilities, unemployed people, social housing tenants or families in poverty.
BT Wales is a strategic partner of Digital Communities Wales. Supporting charities has always been at the heart of what it does, and it has a long track record of backing charities working in areas that use communications to make a difference, e.g. in education, with children, and with communities that may be digitally excluded. As part of the Get IT Together programme, BT Wales has supported three major digital inclusion programmes to promote digital inclusion amongst disadvantaged communities across the UK.
The event will be free of charge to attend but reservations are required in advance. There will be a high demand for places and these will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
NB: Substitutes can be made at any time. Non attendance on the day will incur a charge equivalent to the cost of catering and delegate materials.
