Welsh Conservatives favour cash payments over direct services
11 November 2009Personalisation is a new approach to adult social care, which gives people more control over their own budgets and their care.
Direct payments are cash payments made to individuals who have been assessed as needing services, instead of councils providing the service directly.
According to the Conservatives, fewer than than 2,000 people are currently receiving direct payments in Wales.
They called on the government to ensure that personalised services become the norm rather than the exception.
The motion was rejected.
